Elizabeth Norton is the Principal Investigator of NU’s Language, Education, and Reading Neuroscience (LEARN) Lab, focusing on the brain and behavioral basis of language and reading development, especially early identification of disorders such as autism. The LEARN Lab uses brain imaging, like EEG/ERP and MRI, along with behavioral measures to examine how combining these might help identify children who are at risk for such disorders earlier than traditional methods. Additionally, Dr. Norton is committed to bridging neuroscience research into more real-world contexts.
Dr. Norton co-directs the Developmental Sciences Neurodevelopmental Core within the Institute for Innovations in Developmental Sciences. She completed her B.A. in Language and Brain Development at Dartmouth College, her Ph.D. in Child Study and Human Development at Tufts University, and her postdoctoral training in the Gabrieli Lab at the McGovern Institute for Brain Research at MIT.
